PVC Coated Composites and Cellular PVC's
These products are usually more expensive than composites and most have more comprehensive warranties. They have an extremely hard, tough surface and are less likely to stain or mildew. Some are solid colors that look like painted wood and some have "streaking" to look more natural. PVC coated composites will expand and contract due to temperature change. The movement of Cellular PVC's tends to be much less and they do not get as hot when exposed to full sun locations.
- Extensive Warranties
- Nearly Maintenance Free
- Extremely Hard, Tough Surface
- Several Colors
- Stain and Mildew Resistance

Composites
Composites are wood polymer, part wood and part plastic. The only maintenance is to keep the deck clean and remove debris from the gaps between the boards. Cheaper products will mildew and need to be cleaned more frequently. Composites must be spaced to allow for expansion and contraction due to temperature change. They are available in many different colors. They do not splinter, but tend to scratch and gouge easier than PVC coated composites or cellular PVC's.
- Limited Warranty against splitting, splintering, rot, decay and insect damage
- Low Maintenance
